Flip A Coin: Heads or Tails

Sons, daughters, other family members come and go.                                                 They choose when to arrive and when to depart.

Friends and family, recent & lifetime, connect when “they can”.

Choice and Time are theirs; when to stay and how to leave.

A small amount of guilt, a large amount of relief.

Long Term Care limits and controls all.

Visitors can walk away.

Residents must sit and stay.

Friends & Family have “lives to lead”

Often setting aside “the visit” or “the stay”.

Who has the “authority” and who “wants” to wear that hat?

Recall those times as kids when no one wanted to “be IT”?

The one who wore the mask, unable to see.

Hands outstretched, reaching for someone who kept moving.

That’s Dementia. That’s the Care Giver’s Everyday.

We who lived this way see life from very different angles.

You come and go, call and write but seldom visit and stay.

It’s too remindful, “there is where I someday might be”.

Too “real", too “overwhelming”, seeing time that’s passed.

Next time “I’ll just call”. I can “visit more often" that way.

Reality, I simply can’t face the sights, smells and limitations.

It’s my duty. It’s “my time to care”. I can come and go.

Then you “rationalize”, they don’t know me, they won’t recall.

My visit is “for me” and it’s upsetting to hear and see.

“He” or “she” brings negative to mind memories.

We’re “so busy” and “too tired”.

Excuses and Reasons to skip another day.

To relieve our Souls we pause and recall.

The times when “they” failed to “give” or “learn”

We soothe ourselves painting over times we disagreed.

Soon come infrequent visits to a gravesite and Headstone.

We write our life story each day we’re allowed.

Then comes loss of decisions and control

Hands unable to change direction or stop what’s inevitable.

Who Me?  I’ll always “have my say”

Life for me has always been “day to day”.

I welcome the challenge, the ways and the means.

I hope and pray someone hears and sees.

The best way to help is to see every possibility.

Growth Guide

Remember When?                                                                                                           Each Year Was New?

Something very special                                                                                             Waiting for you?

At five it was school.                                                                                                       Ten changed many rules.

Teens were the starting gate.                                                                                     Twenties opened ways to anticipate.

Thirty something paused the climb.                                                                                 As we planned our life design.                                                                                      Forty moved quickly past.                                                                                           Often life felt like being in a trance.

You had to show.                                                                                                         You're "on the go".

Kiss the kids "bye!"                                                                                                           You're busy "aiming for the sky"!

Fifty crouched near the opening door.                                                                         Sixty held fast so as not to be "passed".

Seventy reminds you have a "Past"                                                                     Reconnect? Hard to say.

Eighty pushes you to see                                                                                                 LIfe waits for no one, not even "me".

More to learn, more to see!                                                                                          Ways and means                                                                                                             To give Hope to Humanity.

The person once seen.                                                                                                    As a long way away                                                                                                      Has suddenly come to sit and to stay.

May you blow out many candles!                                                                                     Live to celebrate and open more doors!

Arriving at One Hundred -- AND MORE!

All Life Long ---                                                                                                                 Open Windows!                                                                                                                 Selectively Close Doors!

Children of the Strap.

My Alcoholic Father, true to the times.                                                                         Believed a popular parenting Rhyme                                                                        "Spare the rod, Spoil the child".

Dad used his belt.                                                                                                         Prepared and on the ready.

Even when his Hands                                                                                                 Were anything but steady.

Always on his waist or at his side.                                                                                    All the day and every night.

He worked the "graveyard shift".                                                                                      Slept during the day.

Not bad on weekdays --                                                                                                     When I was in school

Weekends & Summers                                                                                                     Staying quiet was the #1 Rule.

Sometimes I remember,                                                                                                   We would actually play.

As he grew older,                                                                                                               Those were fewer & fewer days.

To hide his constant fears,                                                                                                 Fighting back my reoccuring tears.

Alcohol bottles hidden away                                                                                             Food on the table?                                                                                                         No money left today.

His needs came first                                                                                                       Or his anger would burst.

Soups? Mostly. Always HomeMade.                                                                         Piece of meat, a very rare treat.

Mom cooked, cleaned,                                                                                         She planned our escape.

She knew we could not survive.                                                                                       In that time or place.

Dad was much older,                                                                                                   Fought in World War I.

Like many who'd seen.                                                                                             others killed and maimed,                                                                                               He could not take                                                                                                             the constant pain.

Dad's favorite daily stop                                                                                               was down the street,                                                                                                         a Bar around the block.

Missiles and hand grenades.                                                                                       Guns always at the ready.

Dirt and blood and cries of pain.                                                                                   WW1 stuck in his brain.

Men just like him,                                                                                                   Mentally, physically torn apart.

Removed his belt as a constant threat.                                                                       Held in one hand, pulling on it with the other.

Dad seemed to "stroke it' as if to say,                                                                                  It's time for you and I "to play".

When he was really drunk.                                                                                               He did not see it was me.

Just something he "had to" correct.                                                                                 To "survive" needing superiority.

Applied on my body                                                                                                         Wherever his arm could reach.

Lessons learned as a child.                                                                                            One I will never teach.

Even The Odds

YOU did i! Over 300,000 visits/reads.                                                                             Thank You. Let's continue the journey!

This entry is my way of telling a "hacker'                                                                         In my Email, on my Sites, "Let It Go".

Your attempt to disrupt, to demean,                                                                         cannot begin to silence worldwide voices:

A Man thinks he has the upper hand.                                                                             Believes his age, experience and contacts                                                                       Place him “above” and “beyond” an “Old Lady”.

A mental challenge outweighs the physical.

Training and experience pin down arrogance.

Ego hurt unbalances mental ability.

I can see him laughing, smirking.

Believing “She”, meaning "me"

Cannot possibly follow,

And as for leading, not a chance.

The best lesson in life is taught

When you’re up against a “Dummy”

So “stuffed" on “self” eyes cannot see.

A great teacher gives a lifelong gift.

It’s set to grow while others slip.

She taught life lessons kept.

One who believes they’re “hot, hot, hot”.

To others is definitely “not, not, not”.

For those who must manipulate.

Their time is limited, there is no “Gate”.

Take off the blinder

See the light.

One who tries to bury

Deserves No Flight.

Short Stacks

We live in amazing times. Living & Learning.                                                         Opening Doors, Windows.  Sharing & Caring.                                                           This Blog is for all moving down life's paths. Please share.

Start something set aside claiming there's no time.

Recall someone forgotten as not nearby.

Face the last, don't chase the past.

Consider the where and when beyond the here & now.

Overlook, oversee, overtake then set the brake.

Sit and wait. Watch and learn. LIve to dream.

Walk behind. Watch ahead. Turn to see.

Books to take. Memories to make.

Train to win. Start to begin. Lead to follow.

Dark and drab. Light and funny. Food or money.

Walk long strides. Stretch to reach. Always teach.

One day we'll see who we chose to be.

All journeys start and all eventually end.

It's all in how we plant and tend.  DB

Trust Can Make You Vulnerable

You know you're "right on'
When your adversary "overloads"

Taking you quickly down
Creating a very long road.

Why do some push so hard
To cause problems?

Thanks for reading.
It helps to see others "surround".

Here's The "New" Elder Predator:
Using AI to make me appear
"Far Over The Hill"

Of all the people
Around the world
My attacker was local.

My aggressor used and abused.
A tactic by the weakest
A practice of the desperate.

Removing records in a private space.
Using a trusted position
To "put me in MY place".

Truth doesn't change.
Manipulated or not.
I won't give up;
Truth is neither cold or hot.

Boomers are the "new target".
We started the walk
Now we must "openly talk".

Today's AI can be used
To try to confuse
Using Authority to excuse.

You can lift the veil.
Point out where
We make "them" fail.

Writing this Blog
Started this journey,
Finding truth, time and space.
I will not be told to "know my place".

As a woman or at an age.
That's "old school'
No room in this Century,
No place on "this Stage".

It's returning at a fast pace
When we accept
Manipulaiton and mistreatment

I remain standing
You provide voices raised.

Reach out, speak up.
Carry the torch!
Keep it lit, hold it high!

Show by your actions
You don't follow, you lead.

Or step to the back,
Let someone hack?

Your choice today.
What will remain
If you fail to see?

Individuals/OTHERS

I do not sit and count.                                                                                                         To me you are an individual.                                                                                               Not a number. Not a place.

I just wonder what I'd see.                                                                                                 If I had the ability.

To see behind those growing stats.                                                                             They show how many.

No  "one" really counts.                                                                                                     Only the total makes some people SHOUT.

I am curious who lives                                                                                                       In places called "Other"

In all my life journeys.                                                                                                       A sign never said:

This Way To "Here or There"                                                                                           That Way To "Other"

Humans all.                                                                                                                       Sharing Limited Space.                                                                                                   Small numbers running llfe's race.

Travel is a Privilege.                                                                                                         It's also a business.

AI can write and also speak.                                                                                             Take heed you don't "read and weep".

Dig deep, find a "co-person".                                                                                       Check all positions.

If their life is lived for others,                                                                                             It will show and shine from miles away.

They are "lights" shining through "dark".                                                                       Their focus always "from the heart".

LIfe is filled with Memories.                                                                                         Choose those who shine a "guiding light".

They care, they share, they guide and grow.                                                                    Their focus is the same as their goal.

To walk alongside, to share and create.                                                                       Their focus is a way from "me" to you.
